OUR VISION

Sunrise Life Development (SLD) is a nonprofit public benefit corporation.   Our vision is to provide programs and services that meet the emotional and spiritual needs of people that are hurting, disadvantaged, and underserved in the community.

 

Board of directors

Scott Taylor - Board President

Scott is an accomplished big box, high-volume retail store leader with a Fortune 500 company, with success in leading teams to execute the company’s vision directly and through the leadership of others.  Scott is an innovative, solution-focused leader that is passionate about solving hunger issues and is committed to giving back to the Rialto community, where he owns and operates a Grocery Outlet store.

Pauline Tidler - Board Vice President

Pauline retired from the University of Southern California after a 21-year career.  Pauline has been of service to her community by actively supporting many community organizations .  When Pauline is not volunteering and serving her community she is spending time with her two daughters, five grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchilden.

Samantha Jones - Board Treasurer

Samantha has worked for Sunrise Church for the past 17 years and currently serves as their Operations Director. She has volunteered for the church as a children’s ministry leader and camp counselor for eight years and has served in areas of outreach, seniors dinners, and as an online prayer partner. Samantha has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and looks forward to using her experiences to strengthen our communities.

Caesar Cassell - Board Member

Caesar is currently on staff at Sunrise Church as our Director of Safety and provides unmatched support to all of our Peace Centers by driving for deliveries and oversight of the storage of products and inventory at the Rialto Peace Center. 

Mike Story - Board Member

Mike has worked in city and county government for 44 years for the cities of San Dimas, Duarte, Fontana, Rialto, and the County of San Bernardino.  The positions he held were as a County Field Representative, Planner, Community Development Director, City Manager. Mike has a Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Political Science and Public Administration from Cal Poly Pomona.  His life has been defined by being of service to his community.

David Gomez - Board Member

David Gomez joined the Sunrise Life Development team in March 2019 serving as the Secretary and Director of Network Engagement. He connects, strengthens, and builds trust between nonprofit organizations and the private sector.
As a business owner of more than 10 years, David brings diverse skills and experience to the team. His passion for people allows him to connect with others to help improve the quality of life of those in our region.

Annette Kelly-Whittle - Board Member

Annette is a workforce development professional and grant writer.  Annette has worked in public services in various leadership capacities for over 18 years providing workforce development services to job seekers and businesses. She is a passionate advocate for economic opportunity for underserved populations and vitality in economically distressed communities.

Doug Majewski - Board Member

Doug has been attending Sunrise Church for 9 years and has served in various ministries such as usher, greeter, outreach teams and Deacon Council. He presently serve passionately at the Rialto Peace Center and drives our box truck for pick up and deliveries. He is currently on the Sunrise Church Elder Board and is the designated Elder to the Sunrise Life Development Board of Directors. 

Dan Flores - Board Member

Dan has worked in the public and non-profit sectors for nearly two decades. He began his public service with the County of San Bernardino serving as the Chief of Staff for a member of the Board of Supervisors. In 2020, Dan was appointed the Executive Director of Mary’s Mercy Center, a non-profit organization that provides support services and transitional housing to homeless families and individuals. Dan is also an elected member of the Colton Joint Unified School District Board of Education. He has a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity, and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Southern California. He resides in Colton with his beautiful wife, Abby, and their three children.
